Default Direct TV and HDTV

Hey Folks

Living in Colorado there aren't many Steeler games on. I'm going to switch over to Direct TV so I can get "Sunday Ticket" and will also buy a HDTV. I'm leaning more toward 50" plasma. If anyone has one, I would appreciate your views on the brand you have.

I don't do the HDTV thing, but I promise that you won't regret switching to DirecTV.

I have Direct TV and went with a Sony Bravia 46" LCD. Its great. I prefer the LCD set up over the Plasma because there is Zero reflection in an LCD. Plasma has reflections. I swear by my Sony Bravia, have never had a problem, its almost 2 years old, and it works flawlessly with the Direct TV HD Setup.

Remember, when buying something like a HD TV, you truly get what you pay for.

You're lucky too, because they have really come down in price. You can probably get a 60" for the same price we paid for our 47"-50."

Yep, actually you can get a 65" for that price now.

Should have waited another year.

CNET is a good place to read professional reviews of HDTV's. I think Pioneer & Sony are usually top notch though expensive and Panasonic & Samsung are usually very good values.

Also, you may get a better deal on a 720 and still have as good or better picture than a 1080. There are several factors that are MORE important than resolution if you are choosing between 720 & 1080 HDTV's. If your viewing distance is > 1.5 times the diagonal it is usually difficult to see much of a difference between the two anyway.

Great choice on the Direct TV, we got it and we have a 42" Samsung Plasma EHD TV, and we love it.

Tell me about it. Well, maybe we can upgrade and introduce our current flat screens to the bedroom.
