First of all, I understand that a franchise is built through the draft. However, I also know that the consistently successful teams (Patriots, Colts etc.) are very good at using older, more experienced players in situational roles and almost as player coaches or at least mentors. With that in mind, I went on walterfootball.com and looked at the available defensive free agents. I've highlighted a few names that I think we should consider, although ultimately the signings will depend on salary demands. For your consideration:

Maybe I am wrong, but I dont consider LB Kendrell Bell a bust in pittsburgh myself. He was a great player for us and made alot of great plays. He got injured and was never the same.. I think it was an ankle injury wasnt it?
I think someone like Kimo Vonolhoffen would be a nice pickup just for the fact that he knows the 3-4 as well as anyone they could pickup.

I think Takeo Spikes would be a nice fit. The man made name for himself through making big playes in key situations. Would'n he be a great mentor for Timmons or Woodley?
