There REALLY needs to be a salary cap for rookie contracts. It's going to get higher and higher each year. The Falcons better hope Ryan pans out. What a stupid gamble, but then again, what can you expect from a franchise that hasn't had back to back winning seasons in it's whole history?

That ... is way too much money.
Even if you're a top-5 pick, there's really only a 50-50 chance you'll ever be a good player in the pros. It's f***ing ridiculous to be throwing that kind of money around on draft picks. And probably one of the reasons why a lot of bad teams stay bad. If your record is bad enough to get the top pick, you have to bet the franchise on whoever's available that year. I'd much rather have a pick somewhere around #10-15 every year. |
