Kind of makes me wonder late in the season I know we had several injuries but, we were limping into the playoffs. I hope Tomlin learned from last season and, makes some adjustments.

A source close to the Steelers notes that Darnell Stapleton has a good shot at being one of the club’s backup centers. Sean Mahan and Justin Hartwig are the top competitors at the position, but it is possible that one of those players could also be in the mix at left guard, where Chris Kemoeatu rates an edge to replace Alan Faneca but will be pushed for the job.

I find this interesting that Darnell Stapleton has a good shot at being one of the backups.

I thought his earlier progress had him in line for possible competition with Mahan / Hartwig for the starting spot.

Unfortunately news makes it sound like Mahan is still a strong chance to be the starting center.

With four center/guards on the roster (Mahan, Hartwig, Stapleton and Legursky) it will be interesting to see who makes the final cuts. My guess is Legursky falls to the practice squad, the number two guy is also a backup at guard and I dont know what happens with no. 3 on the depth chart, does he stick or get cut?

LLT - the more I read about the O line the more questions I have . My latest question is... Do we have a pure center on the roster?

it didnt even end up being as hard as the media said.. he had less 2-a-days than cowher did last season. we just got very unlucky during the season.

No, I think it was the practices in pads through most of the year that really did it to them.

I think we will see Mahan as primarily a backup at LG or RG...and Stapleton and Legursky will battle for backup center...Stapleton should look better this year since he has had time to learn the playbook..but I'm still not sure if Hartwig or Stapelton either one have the anchor to stop bull-rushing NT's. Of those four..I give Legursky the edge on strength and tenacity...and he is probably the center that best fits our scheme...but I think you are right that he is headed for the practice squad this year unless he shows an inate ability to learn the plays and his nastiness makes it hard to not dress him

At this moment I would agree and go with Hartwig by default.

I with you and would love to see Legursky land the no 2 job. I would love nothing more than to see Legursky stand up and make the positions his own. Otherwise we are looking at Mack or Luigs for 2009 in round 1 or 2

I think we need to get 45 point leads going into the 4th quarter in games so we can rest starters.
