Penguins set total attendance record of 888,653 in 2007-2008 season
http://penguins.nhl.com/team/app/?se...ticleid=365343 The Pittsburgh Penguins set a new team total attendance record with 888,653 fans through 52 games of the 2007-08 regular season and Stanley Cup playoffs. The Penguins’ average attendance through those 52 games was 17,089. Seating capacity at Mellon Arena is 16,940, but the Penguins sell a limited amount of standing-room-only tickets for each game. The team’s previous attendance record was 847,204 over 53 games during the 1990-91 regular season and playoffs. The average attendance that season was 15,985. The Penguins have sold out 67 straight games dating back to last season. The 2007-08 season marked the first time in franchise history that the Penguins sold out every game. “We salute our fans for their tremendous support and passion for the Penguins,” said team president David Morehouse. “Our players and coaches often commented how they were inspired by the fan support, and there is no question that the fans played a huge role in our success this season.” |

Not only do Pittsburgh fans dominate in football, they dominate in hockey too.
Can't wait until the new arena opens. It'll be even louder! |

888,000 fans in one season is just amazing, and a testament to all of the bandwagon fans who finally realized we had a hockey team in January of '07 and caused me to relocate my seats this past season.
![]() Seriously though, it really is great to see the arena full and rocking every night, and shows the world that Pittsburgh is a true hockey town. I can't wait until the new arena opens for lot of reasons, one being that we'll find out who the lucky fan will be when we top 1 million in a season for the first time. He or she would have to win something!
