Steelers sign Humpal & Mundy (5 of 7 under contract)

Body: The Steelers agreed to contract terms with two more draft picks today: linebacker Mike Humpal of Iowa and safety Ryan Mundy of West Virginia.

Humpal and Mundy were sixth-round selections.

Each agreed to a three-year contract. Humpal receives $71,600 signing bonus, and Mundy gets a $67,600 bonus. Each will make the NFL salary minimum of $295,000 in 2008, $385,000 in 2009 and $470,000 in 2010.

The Steelers have reached agreements with five of their seven draft picks. The holdouts are the top two picks: running back Rashard Mendenhall and wide receiver Limas Sweed.

this is good.. we are getting our picks signed very quickly.. on a siude note i rly haven't heard how any other teams have been doing signing there picks.. yeah there were a few big names but other than that no noise.. at least any from the cheifs (where i am currently at)

5 down - 2 BIG ones to go. Sweed and Mendenhall should both be happily signed by TC.

I would say they wanted to get the lower draft picks sighned first now they can start working on the two big ones.

it will be hard to not keep all of these players drafted with us through the season. Humpal is regarded as a top 3 best 2nd day draft choice according to espn.com.

Both Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed seem to have good heads on their shoulders. They should realize that will not be starters anytime soon. Unless Mendenhall puts on some "Adrian Peterson" season. Then, he would want a pretty big contract deal. But that is something he cannot bank on. Both will sign good and fair deals.

Willie Colon- 12.25 sacks allowed in 1 season. Average of 12.25. Do the math. Now, who would YOU rather have starting at RT??
