Default 5 Rookies make final 53... guaranteed.

ok. i know im not going too far out on a limb here.

this is just too easy....

mendenhall replaces dookies spot (m. moore takes the spot of rossum or kreider)
sweed replaces wilson
davis replaces haggans
hills replaces faneca
dixon replaces st. pierre

now im not saying these rooks replace the departed's production, just their open spot left on the final 53.

i really think mundy and humpal got a great shot too. they may need a few years of seasonning like hope or harrison did before them, but i think they can prove valuable on special teams while they learn. plus they seem like super intelligent character guys so i am really rooting for them. they are big program guys who almost seem overlooked in the draft.

the question is, what dead weight gets cut to make room if they have a shot of making it?

current backup lb's (like fox) have the most to worry about imo...

I think Humpal has a really good shot to replace Kreidwalt on special teams and its Mundy vs. Carter for the 7th rounder.

All 7 picks making the final 53 is improbable, but could happen this year.

Either Reid or Baker prolly won't make the team so there's another spot for a draft pick.

Wasn't Baker on the PS last year? If so, then that could just come down to Baker taking the roster spot away from Reid which wouldn't help any rookies..

Hopefully Baker takes that spot from Reid I am not satisfied with Reid to me he is just taking up a roster spot.

I think this years draft class looks very good. 5 is very possible. Tomlin and the FO have done a very good job selecting the best talent available. If McBean can come in and take a spot for the DL, that would be 6 to make it from last year. 7 if anyone is sold on Baker, which I am not. That would be 11 rookies in 2 years. Most teams, I would say, hope they get 2-3 soild players in a draft.

If only 1 or 2 Tomlon picks dont make it that is alot better then the last few Cowher drafts where 3 or 4 a year didnt make the team.

I'm not sold on Hills at all...especially when a very good friend of mine...who follows UT Football as closely as anyone here follows the Steelers....tells me that Hills wasn't that great of a pickup for us.

With his injury history, I could see him being another Kris Farris.

I'd rather have St. Pierre than Dixon.

I agree, Fox was brought in to take Kreiwalts spot (STs specialist), so it's Humpal vs. Fox. Neither has played in this scheme, although Fox has 5 yrs in the league, so it will come down to who plays better on STs. Humpal would probably be safe on the practice squad for a year, if the team chose so. I'm with you though, I like Humpals chances.

Sad but, I'm willing to take Mundy over Carter, without even seeing him play in the B&G, just from what I've read about the kid. Carters age and play in the Jags game put him out of favor with me.
