One the one hand we are only getting a dude that returned punts an average of 6 yards last year and who has been on the decline the last 2 years.

On the other hand looks like we are getting rid of a dude who has a career receiving yardage total of 54 yards.

From what everyone is saying from camp...

don't be surprised if it ISNT Reid that is on the way out.

To me, I think this makes sense from the standpoint of kicking our current group of returners up the back side and saying, "Focus and do well, or you're gone". The more competition there is the better, which I do not mind in the least. However, Drummond's past track record is just that, the past, and, in my opinion, he will not help us in the return game because his recent history does not offer any evidence of productivity..

Maybe not, but our recent history offers evidence of less than zero productivity. When we ditched Rossum, I was worried we had lost a guy that at least didn't fumble and knew which direction to run (which was a huge improvement over '06 and even parts of '05). Drummond is that same kind of guy, only four years younger.

In a typical Steelers FO move, they made a dumb move of releasing Rossum into a smart pickup in Drummond. Colbert and crew are making it hard to doubt them.

Yeah, we should cut both Willie Reid and Jermey Bloom.

Drummond was one tough SOB at Penn State. I'm hoping to see him flourish even further with the Steelers.

He was only on the active roster for 7 games in two years and then only in as the 4th receiver. I don't recall him having pass drops etc. to think he's not that good. As a returner I think he's a bust though.

I think those three will be in competition for the KR / 5th receiver spot. Or would we carry 6 WR this year if one of them is mainly a returner? Rossum was listed as a CB.

Baker might be able to stay under the radar on the practice quad again.
