..The way they are now (and not in '05), would you still be confident in the Steelers' D? You know, the leading "mouth" that people said the Steelers would desperately miss last year?

I'm just as confident with Woodley/Harrison as with Porter/Haggans. Haggans was an above average role player where as Porter was Probowl materiel. Now Harrison has a probowl under is belt already and Woodley is a sophomore with much much potential where he should be better than Haggans. Sum it up, I like these guys better. Though Porter was ("is") one of my favorite Steelers all time.

The defense needs to prove it can stop the run and not allow late half or game drives that lose them the game. Right now, they are a average to below average defense. |

and here comes the negativity.
The QUESTION is driving at the point... who are you more confident in RIGHT NOW... the Porter/Haggans LB corp (if they were still together THIS year) or the Woodley/Harrison corp. |

I think Harrison and Woodley both have a shot at double digit sacks this year...I'm confident in this combo......Plus really excited to see Woodley's growth as a player...

Well...
Porter/Haggans = 1 Superbowl Victory ![]() Harrison/Woodley = 1 Playoff loss ![]() The latter is very talented with a great upside, but I'll take the trophy!

I was about to say something like that, but you pretty much summed it up perfectly. Porter and Haggans were solid enough that we won the Super Bowl, so it's hard to be more confident in anyone than that.

Our defense is average at best, with either set of linebackers...so sorry...I don't have a lot of confidence in either group if you narrow it down to 2005 or this season. |

Does Porter and Haggans.. AS THEY ARE NOW... have more talent and ability than Harrison and Woodley? This has nothing to do with past success... it has everything to do with ability THIS YEAR. Woodley and TIMMONS, not to mention Harrison seem ALL to be laying it on the line this year in camp. surpassing anything I expected of Haggans. Porter last year had very little impact, though that may have been due to the knee surgery. No, I think that we have the right people for this year and am glad that we don't have the current Porter and Haggans. |

Right now we are better with Woodley/Harrison than we would be with Porter/Haggans.
