Chad Johnson, the star wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals who likes to be called "Ocho Cinco," has challenged Olympian swimming gold medalist Michael Phelps to a race. On ESPN's "Pardon The Interruption" Wednesday, August 13, Johnson went on a tirade about Michael Phelps, stating that "the problem with Michael Phelps is there's no competition where he is."

For those out of the loop, Michael Phelps is at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics breaking swimming records (five so far).

Chad Johnson, never one to restrain himself from saying something that might be considered asinine, went on to say that he knew several people in Liberty City (Miami) that could beat Phelps in a race. He says that if Phelps went to Liberty City, he would find these people that could beat him in the inner city, people who could not make it to Beijing to compete. Johnson also stated that he was three times Charles Hadly school champ.

Charles Hadley, for those curious to know, is an elementary school in Miami, Florida. Apparently, Chad Johnson believes that his prowess as a swimmer in his pre-teen years qualifies him as a world-class swimmer on the par with -- nay, better than -- Michael Phelps and hundreds of other Olympians. And Johnson might be a decent swimmer, but this would be something to see.

Thus far, Michael Phelps has made no comment as to whether he will accept Chad Johnson's challenge. Perhaps he has something more important to do, such as getting ready to break or tie Mark Spitz' Olympic record.

But this isn't Johnson's first media exposition of his unlimited talent for making an ass out of himself.

In one outing against the Tennessee Titans, Johnson was quoted: "Tennessee is a very country-type state. Maybe I can practice on some type of country-western dance where they'll know what I'm doing."

I think Phelps should take him, PRIME TIME, the first MONDAY NIGHT GAME of the year...live, national television, in Miami...with the following conditions:

If Ocho Stinko wins he receives all of Phelps' gold medals
If Ocho Stinko loses he must quit football and dig ditches for a living, and he has to polish all the Super Bowl Trophies in Pittsburgh once every week while wearing a full contamination suit (as not to contaminate the trophies)

I have to agree with CJ. It looks like he would take Phelps given the chance on his home turf.

I hate when this guy opens his stupid mouth about things he does not understand... he must have been starved for attention as a baby and cannot stand anyone else in the spotlight...

That said... I love him for his in game stuff. He said the people pay for a show and he tries to give them one. HE had enough balls to jump in the Dawg Pound for God's sake!

Yeah, those Olympic athletes are a bunch of cakes! No training, no competition, they just sit around the pool all day drinking lemonade and vodka, feeling up the ladies and getting tanned... and then at the end of the day, they swim a lap or two and try on the medals, and pick the one they want.

What a moron. My bet is that Phelps had probably put in somewhere between twice as much and three times as much training in his life as CJ has, if not more. Especially in a sport like swimming. Anyone who has had kids in high school swimming knows about the ungodly hours for practice; many kids are at the pool at 6AM.

Next thing you know, he'll challenge Lance Armstrong to a bicycle race.

Ok with all that except for Stinko polishing the trophies. He doesn't deserve to stand in teh same room with them, let alone touch them.
