The Steelers re-signed second-year tight end Matt Kranchick to their active roster today after placing safety Russell Stuvaints on the team?s reserve/injured list. Stuvaints will not be eligible to return to the team for the remainder of season.
Kranchick began the 2005 season on the Steelers? active roster but was released on Oct. 25, and then added to the team?s practice squad on Oct. 26. The Steelers promoted Kranchick to their active roster on Nov. 12, and he caught his first career pass (for six yards) the next day versus the Cleveland Browns. He was released again by the team on Nov. 19. Originally selected by the Steelers in the sixth round (194th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft, Kranchick was on the team?s roster throughout the entire 2004 season and saw action in two games. A roster spot became available for Kranchick after Stuvaints injured his right knee while covering a punt in the first quarter of last Sunday?s game (Nov. 20) at Baltimore. Stuvaints had played in four games with the Steelers this season after signing with the team on Oct. 25. He saw action in four games with the team in 2003 and in 15 games in 2004, but was the final player released by the Steelers during the 2005 preseason. link.......... http://media3.steelers.com/article/59518/

Stu was never a huge impact player, but he has made some good plays for us. Kinda sucked, I liked him and he was a scrapper.
Good to see Matt back for ST duty too. |

Too bad about Stuvaints injury but both him and Kranchick are wasted roster spots IMO.
