Default Backup QB Part II

Joey Harrington, Rex Grossman or David Carr.

Who would you go after as a backup to Ben next year. All three of these guys may be available due to their particular situations. Batch is getting old even if he is a backup and I think we all know where Maddox is going to end up.

it's way to early to give up on carr and i doubt they will.......once he gets a decent line he'll be just fine. texans would be better off drafting reggie bush to give carr more weapons or trading up to get whoever is considered the best o-linemen to help protect their franchise qb

Grossman is too injury prone.

Harrington has potential in the right system..but I really like Carr. He'd want a ton of money and wouldnt wanna be a backup..the guy has hung in there despite the texans lack of vision of getting him a good OL.

Personally I dont think that any of those QB's would be willing to start as a back up to Ben Roethlisberger - where there is next to no chance of inheriting the team on a full time basis.

Grossman remains the better option at Chicago but needs to remain healthy - Kyle Orton is a useful backup - but the reason the Bears are winning games is because of the D.

Harrington will NOT be a back-up anywhere next year - he will only go somewhere he has a better than 50% chance of starting - and lets face it - the Lions are the worst team in the league for sticking with players well past their trade-by-date.

David Carr is not going to be a back-up either and Im not too sure what you have based your inclusion of him on your list on.....?

The Texans suck and their O-Line has been consistently awful - Carr is tight with the owners - there will be a major shake up in the Houston camp this offseason - HC job will probably be on offer as well as offensive co-ord.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

Can't give up on Carr,he's a good QB with a horrible o-line (worse than Baltimore's).When he gets an o-line and a real #1 reciever,he'll be giving the Colts a run for thier money.

You know, I was thinking about both those guys myself but I don't see it happening. One of my roomates is a huge Lions fan (why?) and while he hates Joey, he calls him "The Piano Man," he has been saying that the guy's playing better. I think he'll be starting somewhere next season, but maybe not Detroit. He's got a huge roster bonus if he sticks.
Grossman might start in Chi-town this season. Orton's played pretty well but I can't think that the Bears are sold on him. Maybe I'm reading them wrong.
Carr, geeze, I don't know about that guy. He has flashes of mediocre followed by sustained brutality. Yeah, I understand that his team stinks but come on, dude, get rid of the ball to one of YOUR receivers.
He just might back up a veteran QB somewhere until he can learn the offense and get the ringing out of his ears.

Just wanted to see what you all thought. I don't think any of them will be that great down the road and will all eventually be backups somewhere.

All of you fools who say and argued that Harrington is in Detroit to stay and will develop and get paid....Hmm Is anyone watching this Thanksgiving day game. He is the biggest turkey on Thanksgiving and Kerney has the stuffing.
