Default What was cool from yesterday.

You see the quick release and quick drops Big Ben had on his passes early on? I hope this continues.

It really cut down on the sacks and got the offense moving consistently. At this pace, Ben will be sacked only 32 times this year.

You're right on about the quick release....BUT...the fumble that Williams caused exposed the glaring weakness that is the O-line and Ben's tendency to hold onto the rock. Other than that..great game!

I dunno, Tank. It was Mario Williams, after all. The guy's going to beat everyone at least once. I think we did a hell of a job on him, when you take the whole game into consideration.

I agree with your statement. Mario Williams is a beast on defense and I think our O-line did a good job of not allowing him to take control of the game. Had this O-line not played well Ben would have been sacked about 7+ times. Also I think the fix to Ben not taking as many sacks is him dumping off to his check down guy and getting rid of the ball within 3 seconds.

That said no matter how good you are there will be times when a sack can not be avoided.

The forced fumble was the result of a missed assignment, not Williams beating his man. He went unblocked from the outside and Ben did not see him.

Still, give credit to Mario Williams. He had 13 sacks last year and showcased that he's a solid player. He'll be wreaking havoc on weak offenses all year. The Steelers did a decent job containing him for the most part. Willaims was a non-factor in Run Defense.

That's right. and coming from his backside no less. He didn't have time for anything.
If he had a clock going in his head, it didn't get past 1.

Remember, one of the sacks was a blow play (but a cool design) and the other was a blown assignment. A sack is a sack, but those are both fixable (as opposed to just plain getting beat straight up).

Mario Williams is a freak of athleticism, allowing 2 sacks for the entire game is exceptional, especially for a line which has never played together in a real game.

Watching Romo sit in the pocket for 5 secs every pass play has me salivating at what Ben can do against the porous Browns secondary next week! Not to mention Willie Parker against the Browns run D that still looks like swiss cheese!
