Gerry Dulac's NFL Forecast: Week 2
Sunday, September 14, 2008
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-1)
8:15 p.m., Browns Stadium The Steelers have won the past nine vs. the Browns and haven't lost in Cleveland since 2000. The average margin of victory in their past four games there is 22 points.

Prediction: Steelers, 31-9

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chicago Bears (1-0) at Carolina Panthers (1-0)
1 p.m., Bank of America Stadium Each team is coming off victories against two of the favorites in the AFC. But the Bears victory against Indy should carry an asterisk -- Peyton Manning was rusty.

Prediction: Panthers, 17-13

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tennessee Titans (1-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-1)
1 p.m., Paul Brown Stadium Know the difference between Vince Young and the Tennessee defense? The Titans' D never quits. The Bengals' season could be over in a hurry with another defeat.

Prediction: Bengals, 21-20

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green Bay Packers (1-0)at Detroit Lions (0-1)
1 p.m., Ford Field The Lions had trouble stopping a rookie quarterback last week. They might have bigger problems stopping another new QB -- Aaron Rodgers. Packers are 18-3 in past 21.

Prediction: Packers, 30-20

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffalo Bills (1-0) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)
1 p.m., Alltel Stadium The Bills now have a chance in the AFC East with Tom Brady's injury. The Jaguars are losing more than just games; their offensive line lost both starting guards.

Prediction: Bills, 20-17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oakland Raiders (0-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)
1 p.m., Arrowhead Stadium The Chiefs have won nine of the past 10 against Oakland and almost beat the Patriots on the road. The Raiders gave up 41 points at home to the Broncos.

Prediction: Chiefs, 23-13

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Indianapolis Colts (0-1) at Minnesota Vikings (0-1)
1 p.m., Metrodome The Colts haven't played in Minnesota in 11 years, which would explain why the Vikings have won the past five home meetings. When was the last time the Colts started 0-2?

Prediction: Vikings, 31-28

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Giants (1-0) at St. Louis Rams (0-1)
1 p.m., Edward Jones Dome The good news for the Rams is they are 10-3 in home openers. The bad news is the Giants have won their past 10 games on the road, including the Super Bowl.

Prediction: Giants, 30-17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Orleans Saints (1-0) at Washington Redskins (0-1)
1 p.m., FedEx Field Everyone is talking about a change in Washington, and the Redskins are certainly providing it. They look nothing like the team that made the playoffs in '07.

Prediction: Saints, 20-13

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

San Francisco 49ers (0-1) at Seattle Seahawks (0-1)
4:05 p.m., Qwest Field The perfect tonic to cure an embarrassing opening-game performance in Buffalo? A game against the 49ers in the home opener. The Seahawks are 24-4 in past 28 at home.

Prediction: Seahawks, 34-6

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Atlanta Falcons (1-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1)
4:05 p.m., Raymond James Stadium Tampa Bay swept the Falcons last year by a combined 68-10. That won't happen this year, not with Michael Turner and Matt Ryan in the Falcons backfield.

Prediction: Falcons, 23-20

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Miami Dolphins (0-1) at Arizona Cardinals (1-0)
4:15 p.m., University of Phoenix Stadium Eventually, the Cardinals' problems at quarterback will catch up with them. For now, Kurt Warner can handle teams such as the 49ers and Dolphins.

Prediction: Cardinals, 30-16

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

San Diego Chargers (0-1) at Denver Broncos (1-0)
4:15 p.m., Invesco Field Shawne Merriman is gone, and so might the Chargers' season with a loss to Denver, which has won the past eight home openers. The Broncos have a new weapon: WR Eddie Royal.

Prediction: Broncos, 31-28

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New England Patriots (1-0) at New York Jets (1-0)
Giants Stadium, 4:15 p.m. The Patriots have won the past seven vs. the Jets and are trying to become first team in history to win 21 in a row. It will work for another week, even without Tom Brady.

Prediction: Patriots, 20-17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) at Dallas Cowboys (1-0)
8:30 p.m. tomorrow, Texas Stadium The Eagles won the last meeting in Dallas with both teams scoring a combined 16 points. They might have that many with six minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Prediction: Cowboys, 34-30

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) at Houston Texans (0-1)
Damage caused by Hurricane Ike forced the NFL and Houston Texans to postpone their game against the Baltimore Ravens -- already rescheduled from today to tomorrow night -- to Nov. 9.
