The memo was sent out Wednesday night, a day after the league announced the one-game suspension of Tampa Bay cornerback Elbert Mack for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan last week. Mack, an undrafted rookie from Troy, had been fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness against Houston quarterback Alex Brink during the Bucs' exhibition finale on Aug. 28. Mack, who plays in nickel and dime defenses and on special teams, will miss Sunday's game with Chicago. Goodell's letter was a follow-up to the one sent to Mack by Ray Anderson, the league's executive vice president for football operations. "Your actions are of particular concern in light of the emphasis that our office has placed on developing and enforcing rules designed to protect players from injury, including concussions," Anderson wrote. "The safety of our players is paramount to all of us in the NFL."

The rule doesn't apply to Ben, He's a Steeler, he's tougher then the rest of the league.

So we should be looking for a fine from last game . . . or does it not apply since it was released AFTER the fact . . . I hate Goddell, spineless Cheatriot lover! I am sure this only came out because his precious Brady was hurt and he is trying to stop that from happening again.

Since there was no flag on the play I highly doubt any action is taken.

If Rogers or any other Browns player hits Ben late next game, they should be ejected and fined.

Goodell is a fricking moron who is ruining the game on the field with too many unnecessary rules. The players don't go out of their way to try and hurt each other. It's like every time some quarterback gets hurt by accident, the commissioner thinks making the rules more strict is going to prevent all injuries everywhere.

Guess what? It's football. Accidents are going to happen, and all you do by tightening up the rues is create a bunch of unpopular 15-yard penalties that really shouldn't have happened in the first place.
