Default Toughest Steeler pound for pound

i think hines ward may win this but ben is getting hammered every game. he takes a lickin and keeps on ticking. he's never afraid to get hit, and is almost always playing through some pretty severe hits and injuries.

polamalu plays with absolutely no discretion to injury. when at 100%, he sacrifices and throws his body around, with out a care in the world about getting hurt. he too has played through a ton of injuries.

ward is ward. always willing to lay the wood, and plays through his share of injuries too. he plays like troy on offense. if his hands and offensive skills werent absolutely amazing he couldve possibly been 1 of the best free safeties in the league.

James Harrison is a monster.

James Harrison eats babies before games. DEFINITELY the toughest.

Troy doesn't even deserve to be on that list.

No doubt Hines is my choice. Not just because he is the best blocker in the league and messes people up, but WR take nasty hits in the NFL and when you have been playing as long as Ward, its nothing new.

Hines. How many other guys playing a position that leaguewide has become filled with loudmouthed soft prima donnas go over the middle fearlessly like he does and pancake LBs on blocks? And do it all with a perpetual smile on their face, no less?

Yeah, but Hines doesn't play special teams, and kill returners either. +1 to Harrison.

harrison probably shoulda been on the list, but thats why i put the "other" option. when doing this poll it heavilly considered injury factors.

james is the steeler i would most want with me in a dark alley though (much like porter and lloyd). well, them or casey hampton....

Exactly - the way I approached it is who is the "toughest" relative to their position around the league. LBs are supposed to be intimidating badasses - it's part of the job description.

I voted Ward, could've went Aaron Smith. But like '76 said, relative to position, Ward no question. Both would play unless something is hanging off, even then they would probably try duct tape.
