Default Gee, Ya Think?

Anybody remember the Cowboys being lauded for getting Pacman in a trade this past Spring? That he was the "last piece of the puzzle" for them? I do. Now that they're sitting at 4-3 with the assclown being suspended (again) and they're being forced to start a 40-year-old journeyman QB, you think they might be regretting the move as opposed to going after a serviceable backup to Romo? Nah.

Cowboys Falling to Pieces

By Charles Robinson, Yahoo! Sports

Welcome to third place, Dallas Cowboys. Welcome to dizzying expectations unfulfilled. And while we’re at it, welcome Jerry Jones, to a dark, dark comparison – a younger, slightly less meddlesome version of Al Davis.

Injuries and a lack of toughness have dragged the Cowboys to 4-3 and third place in the NFC East after Sunday’s 34-14 embarrassing defeat to the St. Louis Rams, but some of Jones’ moves only complicate where Dallas goes from here. First we have Adam “Pacman” Jones, one of Jerry Jones’ worst gambles. Then we have Terrell Owens, who is screaming at his teammates on a weekly basis and approaching the verge of critical mass. And finally, we have Wade Phillips, a head coach who might be the least capable man in the NFL of bringing fire and brimstone to motivate a locker room.

These are three hand-selected men by Jones, and all of them are bringing drama and complication to a team trying to weather a crashing tidal wave of injury misfortune. How to solve the crises? Do the Cowboys really know? How long before Jones shakes up the coaching staff? After all, this team’s talent is better than last season – and Jones called last season’s playoff failure one of his biggest disappointments.

There are some troublesome hurdles ahead. Owens hasn’t had a 100-yard receiving performance in 11 straight games, dating back to Week 13 of last season. And no matter what Jones says, the addition of wide receiver Roy Williams is going to take catches away from Owens – not magically add them. And Pacman? Well, the word out of Dallas’ headquarters is that the team is open to bringing him back after his latest suspension. That reality showcases how foolish Jerry Jones has become with his troubled cornerback.

This is a team in dramatic disarray. Meanwhile, the rest of the NFC East looks more than prepared to take advantage. And that makes Dallas the biggest loser of this weekend.

That is what happens when the mediots puts the Cowboys in the Super Bowl and virtually hands them the danged Lombardi before the games are even PLAYED. People were putting the team in the Super Bowl WAY too early.

Charlie Casserly made a great point yesterday that Pac Man is not the same player he was before, so it was a reach in the first place.

Also, this is just what it is: When you try and buy a Championship, too many ego's will sink your ship. How's spending 300 mil a year been working out for the Yankee's (and baseball is a sport that is based much more on individual performance).

Probably a Canadiens and Celtics/Lakers fan too, I reckon.

What have the Yankee's done lately EXCEPT throw tons of cash at prima donna players who underachieve?

Not much to be jealous of...but I certainly respect the old school Yankee's teams, the ones who built the reputation that Steinbrenner is slowly destroying over time by reckless spending and careless management.

The Yanks may have 26 titles, but they certainly aren't the model franchise in sports nowadays. Proof positive that money doesn't win championships. Stupid and arrogant owners like Jerry Jones think that you can throw money at your problems to solve them.

If there's one thing that warms my old school heart, it's watching this years Media Queens self destruct as we knew they would! I've heard enough about how great they are this year, the whole media circle jerk over this team just makes me want to puke.

I don't think it has anything to do with egos. If you lose your starting QB, 3/4 of your secondary (which was already a weak point), and play in arguably the toughest division in the league, then you're going to struggle.

It makes for a nice storyline that T.O and Pacman and Roy E. Williams and Tony Romeo are tearing the team apart, but I think the "ego" effect is overblown.
