Thank you for providing those links, Steel Duck, but my mind has been made up for quite a while. I can't vote for a candidate that I simply don't trust and that is why my vote is going to John McCain.

Even for those who have decided it's still nice to be able to view their voting record. Thanks for the links. I will peruse them. USAspending.gov is a good site to keep an eye on what our tax dollars are being spent on.

Raw unprocessed data like this is really difficult to wade through...there are hundreds of issues here. Some are just resolutions (which have gained in popularity as of late because they only denote a position, not a firm, or, more importantly, binding stance). Then there are all the addendums...this whole system is set up to obfuscate what's really going on to the lay public.

If any of us REALLY wanted to analyze this properly, we'd need a team of people working on it for weeks.

Look at the local/state issues that are in front of you. Maybe 10-15 of them? Look at the language of just those. It's all legaleze and meant to confuse people who aren't lawyers.

This is a nice source, but unfortunately our government is now so out of control we are more electing a lion tamer than anything else.

Who can control the beast better ( I re-watched "Nixon" last night....great flick, and reminded me of this whole thing)?

Great link on the voting records. Like Revefs said, it would take weeks to sort through all the data.

One thing that people need to realize is that the majority of bills that go up for vote are loaded with "pork", and even though the title of the bill may sound good (Childrens Healthcare) there is so much additional pork in the bill that the bill no longer is used for its intended purpose.

Hope I got my point across. End of the day and having a hard time getting my brain to operate my fingers.

Yes, it's a lot of information to muddle through, however if someone is curious enough it is possible. All it takes is clicking on the particular bill and read it.
For me I was most interested in recent deffense bills, so that's where I concentrated my efforts.
I know most people won't take the time to do this, but just in case someone was still undecided, I wanted to make it available to them.

Good for him.

Of course, voting now would have made him one out of 17 to vote no. But that is a different thread.
