Default Porter on Vick: "All it was was dogs"

Who is this "They" Porter keeps referring to?

Porter on Vick: "All it was was dogs"

Fri Nov 21, 2008 2:03 pm EST

Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter commented on the possible reinstatement of former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and, as usual, Porter shot right from the lip, according to a report on EPSN.com. Vick was convicted for his role in a dogfighting ring and is serving time in a Kansas federal prison. He's scheduled to be released next summer.

"He's already been punished enough," said Porter (referring to Vick's possible reinstatement after serving his sentence), who owns a pair of pit bulls and a Maltese. "They gave him his penalty. He paid his penalty. What else should they do to him now?"

"All it was was dogs. They act like they don't even like pit bulls anyway. That's the funny thing about it if you want to get back on that topic. I got pit bulls, I got to put them under a different breed just to travel. So you can't even fly pit bulls nowhere."

"It's a breed they don't care about. It's not like he was fighting co cker spaniels or something that they like. They don't really care too much about pit bulls."

O.K., I usually like Porter. but that is just ridiculous. I think Vick should be made an example of, the NFL is started to fill up with convicts and shady characters.

Damn Joey, I'm usually one of your biggest fans, even when you say something stupid like this (which lately is quite often), but please just enjoy that 64oz can of STFU, and leave the talkin' to the field.....usually right before kick-off when you're in your pre-game stretches.

Vick won't be reinstated. He's a puppy-killer! That's like the ultimate evil cliche, right next to baby-eater.

I feel the same way, there is no need to say dumb stuff like that, I personally hope that Vick never makes it back in the league

Every now and then, you hear another player trying to do some explaining for Michael Vick. Yeah, we might say it sounds dumb or careless, but the point it seems like they're trying to make is that a lot of players grow up in basically a different world where unpleasant shit happens all the time. That doesn't mean dogfighting is right, or any less cruel, but it's just the way it is for some people. That part I can understand where they're coming from.

It doesn't matter what you, or anyone thinks about what he did. The reality is, dog fighting is against the law. Vick lied about it and threw everyone around him under the bus, untill it was very apparent he wasn't going to get away with it... then he admitted it, and gave his (cough) heartfelt little speech and apology.

I agree that he paid for it. He served his time. I personally don't want him back in the NFL, but that isn't my decision to make. That falls on our illustrious commissioner. I can only hope he says no... but, he reinstated Pacman... again, so I would imagine that Vick will be allowed to play again.

I agree, it was a dumb thing to say. Especially this long after the fact.

I did find it interesting that he made a distinction between breeds.
