Judge blocks suspensions of Vikings’ Williamses

Buzz up! PrintMINNEAPOLIS (AP)—A Minnesota judge has blocked the NFL’s suspension of Vikings stars Kevin and Pat Williams for violating the league’s anti-doping policy.

Hennepin County District Judge Gary Larson issued a temporary restraining order at the players’ request on Wednesday, saying he wanted more time to hear arguments in the case. No further hearing date immediately was set.

The Williamses were among six players suspended for four games for testing positive for a diuretic that can be used as a masking agent for steroids. They have argued that the substance containing the diuretic didn’t list all its ingredients.

The Vikings are 7-5 and in first place in the NFC North, with the Williamses a big part of their success

I don't think they'll win.

The NFL's policy is that ultimatley you are responsible for what you put into your body.

I know that they are arguing that the NFL knew StarCaps had the banned substance...however it's showing that they NFL let that be known and put StarCaps on a list of supplements to stay away from.

If this info did somehow not get to these players, or they just didn't pay attention...I am having a real hard time beleiving that it's the NFL's fault.

And now with them getting their suspensions at least temporarily lifted, they are hurting their team even more. If the judge ends up siding with the NFL, they'll miss playoff games if their team gets there.

IF the Williams brothers' suspensions get delayed until next year, then the Vikings are going to be dangerous come playoff time.

After a 1-3 start, this team is on a hot streak-plus that young RB ain't too shappy either.

Another problem the players have is that (according to the local news) every locker room has a sign warning players to avoid diuretics because they can cause a false positive on drug tests.

Depends - how did they score on the Wonderlic? If their scores were as low as, say, Vince Young's, they're barely literate and it's highly doubtful they would even know what "diuretic" means.
