im getting hyped. ive wanted to go to the sunbowl for a while now (close proximity) and with pitt visiting i figured it was a chance of a lifetime.
this will be the 1st college game ive seen w/ 2 nationally recognized teams. horrible experience with the ticketmaster representatives though. try spelling a 12 letter polish last name to a pakistani who doesnt know the difference between 15th and 16th street, and then pray you get your tickets. i gotta pick mine up at the call window at a venue that dont print out tickets at the call window an hour before gametime. ![]() now i gotta deal with some schmoe who probably doesnt even know how to use a computer. im prepared to raise some hell and looking forward to a good game.

Im really jelous of you getting to go to the game, my whole family is going but me!
I still got to go to one game this year though against Louisville not a great game but it is better than nothing and it helps that my bro goes to UofL and I got to rub it in his face when we won.

oh yeah, el paso is real nice. especially right arount the utep stadium. it is so close to the rio grande you can almost spit across the "river" into one of the poorest most downtrodden parts of juarez, which also happens to be one of the most delapodated, third world nation, looking parts of all of mexico. pretty much cardboard houses and tents.
funny thing is the sun bowl is built right into the mountain, and not even 30 feet away from the stadium is a mock mine shaft that the students used to work/practice mining in (hence the school name utep miners). it was "used" as a food and water dropoff point for all the donkeys (drug smugglers) who trekked their loads across the river and into the states. the art director (art dept and museum is right next door) told me they cleaned it up quite a bit since the 80's but even when we went in, there was still plenty of evidence of aliens and smugglers still using it.

yeah, many just call it the "sun bowl" (cause thats what its known for) and its always sunny and like a bowl carved into the hillside.
its almost literally a stones throw away from a very sad and ugly part of mexico. i consider el paso to be fairly nasty. i usually only go there to use the airport.

http://www.city-data.com/forum/el-pa...utep-area.html it is a kick ass setting, especially if you love the desert. (keep in mind these pictures would look gross on a windy or smoggy day).
