Default NFL fashion statement?

I hope this isn`t too dumb a question but.......many players have a band/strip just above their elbows and I was just wondering if there is a practical purpose to this or is it just some kind of fashion thing?

I'm not sure of its actual purpose, if any, but I think it might be to help prevent a biceps tear of some kind. I don't remember them last year, and I noticed Aaron Smith and others wearing it this year.

Not exactly sure though. Could just be "cool".

I have been wondering the very same thing. It is so tight looking, it seems to me it would be uncomfortable.

I just did some searching and found this:

According to a New York Times article, the armbands are nothing more than the current fashion trend with the purpose of showing off their upper arm definition.

Wearing the armbands has no medical or performance benefit.

GO STEELERS!!!!
