Default Haslett wants out of New Orleans.

http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9098421
(Dec. 15, 2005) -- New Orleans head coach Jim Haslett recently asked Saints owner Tom Benson to fire him, according to those close to the situation. Benson refused, but with the end of the regular season now three games away, Haslett might not give Benson any choice the next time.

Haslett, according to one Saints official, is planning to resign after this season.

Once again, Benson could try to influence Haslett's thinking and try to convince him to stay for the final year of his contract. But today, Haslett is worn out from all the adversity the Saints have been forced to endure, and what they still will endure next season. It is readily apparent to anyone who knows him that Haslett would like out.

The Saints' trying season has worn on Jim Haslett.
Should he get his wish, then it is likely that Haslett would have to spend next season out of football, as he still has one year remaining on his contract with Benson and the Saints. With the one year on the contract, Benson likely would be unwilling to let Haslett coach anywhere else. And by resigning, Haslett would essentially be deactivating himself, without pay, for all of next season.

But right now, the idea of it doesn't bother him. The thought of spending a year away from football, recharging his battery for what surely would be his return the following year, is especially appealing to Haslett. One other NFL head coach even said the year away would be a good thing for Haslett, as he is worried about the harsh toll that this season has taken on him.

Yet other teams are closely monitoring Haslett's situation. Four NFL teams have made subtle inquires about whether Haslett would be available to coach their team after this season. It only proves that when Haslett is available to coach somewhere else, be it next season or the following one, he will be one of the most sought-after candidates.

I`m kinda shocked! I really don`t think anyone else will be interested in him as a Head coach? Maybe he wants to be a Def Cor. again??

I wouldn't be surprised if he finds his way back to Buffalo as head coach once Mularkey gets the boot.
