I think being coach of PSU is the only thing keeping him alive. We've all heard those stories about folks that retire and have nothing left to do and eventually just fade away. I think he'd be finished after just 1 season of not coaching. Its what motivates him to keep moving and keep his mind fresh.

All I can say is that I am glad JoePa will be around for a few more years coaching PSU. I want to see him, and he deserves it, get to 400+ wins. I think he will, he is the greatest college FB coach there is and was. He not only cares about winning games, he also has (i think) an 80% graduation rate and more Academic all-americans than most colleges do. He makes men out of his players.

You're correct. Though eventually I'd like see someone take the reigns over, I feel Penn State needs more time to look for his potential successor although I think it will be Bradley. How JoePa has molded the Penn State Program has kinda went hand in hand with how other coaches mold their programs(EX: Ohio State)

We can be sure of this though.

Unless if one of our said schools doesn't give in to our schools wishes for the series, Penn State/Pitt won't happen for awhile.

When a guy's still coaching longer than I've been breathing, he has my instant respect.

Here's hoping for an upset of USC.

Gotta a chance to meet him a few years ago. He's a class act.

I met him in 1996 in McClanahan's in State College...he was actually grabbing a few groceries for his wife. COuldn't believe he wasn't being crowded by everyone. Just a few shouts of "Joe Pa!".

He was cool. Just looked like a lost shopping husband trying to find something in the aisles. It was funny.

Speaking of which...I just remembered...I miss McClanahan's subs...I lived off those things for a few years!

I can't wait to go to the Rose Bowl!! WOO HOO!

I met him at the Blue/White Luncheon that they have at the BJC the one year. He was a good guy. Got to shake hands with him. I was impressed with how he handled his fans.

The Pep rallies at Rec Hall were legendary...he was always (and still is) entertaining at those.

I'm born and raised in happy valley an JoePa can sign another extension in 2012 for all I care. As long as he keeps our Nittany Lions roaring he can stay for as long as he wants. and i think he's proved that he can still do just that.

not to mention i'm a little worried about the potential replacment.
