Steelers vs Ravens Poem (12/14/08)

Steelers vs. Ravens - a game talked about for a while
#1 vs. #2 defense equals football smash mouth style

We haven’t won in their backyard since 2002
And this year it certainly wouldn’t be easy to do

This one was for all the marbles - the AFC North crown
And for most of the game no one scored a touchdown

We gave the Ravens good field position after almost every kick
Our punting situation this year makes us all a little sick

Santonio’s fumble helped the Ravens to another field goal
But the defense as usual kept us from too deep a hole

Our first three quarters weren’t so good but there’s always four
And when it counts we’re usually able to come back and score

Again this week that would be put to the test
At two minute comebacks Ben is one of the best

All the talk of a bounty made us all tired
And Hines came up big so it must have backfired

The Ravens are a lot of talk and not much action
And grabbing the title in their backyard gives us satisfaction

Obviously we won - but it was on the last drive
Ben to Hines would keep it alive

It’s not a Steelers game without a controversial play
And what happened near the end would ruin the Ravens day

The ball doesn’t cross the plane - or maybe it does
It was a touchdown if the league says it was

You can argue that play and whine and cuss
But you had other plays and 92 yards and couldn’t stop us

That’s one more monkey off our back
The Tennessee Titans will be our next attack

The Steelers come to Music City with the division title sealed
And I’ll be waving my Terrible Towel proudly Sunday at LP Field
