No negotiations for Paterno yet

Penn State president Graham Spanier told the university's trustees yesterday that he's "quite certain" that Joe Paterno will coach the football team in 2008.

Paterno, 81, said last month that he'd like to "coach two, three, four or five more years" after his current four-year deal expires after this season.

But Spanier told the trustees during a bimonthly meeting at the Nittany Lion Inn in State College that no negotiations have taken place regarding a new contract.

"We have not had an opportunity yet to have discussions about what will happen going forward," he said.

Paterno is the second-winningest coach in Division I-A history with 372 victories in 42 seasons.

I wouldn't be stunned if this was it. Hopefully Jay doesn't end up becoming head coach.

Don't think this team will be mediocre, but they have a lot of work to do.

In response to your signature Jeremy, I wish they replaced Coastal Carolina with Oregon State. Then got another MAC school to replace Arkansas State.

You know your program is running scared when their big OOC game is Oregon State.

And yeah, Jay is going to be the next HC at Penn State. That program is too gentrified to do anything really radical like hiring Steve Sarkisian to run things.

I'm actually hoping we hire Greg Schiano, Kirk Ferentz, or if we stay in house, hire Tom Bradley.

Kirk Ferentz = Chronic underachiever

Nothing ever changes in State College. That's why I'm not a Penn State fan anymore.

My position coach in Football would agree with you.(Well my O-Line Coach)

But you're breaking in a New QB at Beaver Stadium. with a totally depleted offense. No Arrington, No Manningham, No Hart, No Henne (Or Mallet for that matter)

Remember what happend to the last team who got stripped of their offense and came into Beaver Stadium the next year with a New Head Coach and new everything(Refer to the Notre Dame Game.) History is doomed to repeat itself. (You know I'm a believer of that TMB).
