Unhappy RIP James Dungy (Tony Dungy's son)

I was watching NFL Network and across the bottom it said that 18 year old James Dungy was found dead in his apartment in Tampa, FL on Thursday morning. Cause hasn't been released yet. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

RIP James Dungy

Yeah this is truelly horrible news. Rest in Peace James. And my prayers are with your family Tony. Horrible. From what I have read about and what I have heard about Tony, he is a great guy shouldnt have happened.

From SI.com

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- James Dungy, the 18-year-old son of Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, was found dead in a Tampa-area apartment, police said Thursday.

In a news release on its Web site, the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office said it "responded to the Campus Lodge Apartments this morning at approximately 1:32 a.m. The girlfriend of James Dungy had returned to the apartment and discovered Dungy."

Police performed CPR on Dungy before he was taken to University Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office.

Tony Dungy has left the Colts and is in Tampa, according to NFL.com.

The coach and his wife, Lauren, have four other children: daughters Tiara and Jade and sons Eric and Jordan.

The Colts (13-1) are at Seattle on Saturday.

Fans posted prayers and messages of support for Dungy, who also coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on a message board on a Colts fan Web site.

"Not only was he a great football coach for the Bucs, but he is an even better person," one Tampa Bay fan wrote. "It makes me sick that it happened at this time of year to a person that is so giving and caring."

Another person wrote for God to give strength to Dungy during this difficult time.

"When things like this happen it adjusts our perspective on life," one person wrote. "What was considered major yesterday doesn't amount to more than a footnote today."

SportsTicker contributed to this report.

absolutely trajic at any time for anyone to go thru, but especially at this time of year. Thoughts and prayers go out to Tony and his family, one of the classiest coaches in the NFL period.

What a terrible loss, I sure hope they never find out any foul play was involved or that would be just even worse.

I just heard on the radio, that foul play is not expected!
This has bothered me since Prosdo wrote this. As a father I really feel for Dungy! I don`t think I could handle it!

t. dungy is the fruit from the pittsburgh tree so i have always rooted for him, yet i would hate to see this happen to any coach in the nfl, let alone to any father in the world. as much as he probably deserves to be coach of the year i bet anyone close to him will tell you he deserves to be father of the year 100x more. no amount of professional success will be able to dull his pain right now.

but i feel we will see a group of men rally behind their leader and approach the task at hand with full vigor. although i have rooted for the colts second to the steelers since '95, if the steelers cant make it i will be pulling for the colts even more now. (i still want steelers to smack the colts in the playoffs but i would definitely feel bad for the losers )

oddly enough when the news 1st broke i immediately thought about dr. j (the fish that saved pittsburgh) and ray sherman. and now remembering bill cosbys son. this news must hit these gentleman hard at this time too and dredge up alot of bad memories.

God bless all those who have lost a child.
