i know it's a little off topic from football, but hey...it'd be a fun topic to get into. i chose just the top 5 main catergories and my picks are in bold. let's see yours.
Best Motion Picture of the Year The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Frost/Nixon Milk The Reader Slumdog Millionaire Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role Richard Jenkins for The Visitor Frank Langella for Frost/Nixon Sean Penn for Milk Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler -- where's Clint Eastwood for "Gran Turino"? awful movie, but Clint was at the top of his game for sure. but with "comeback kid" Mickey Rourke taking the Golden Globe, i'm sure he'll steal this one. Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married Angelina Jolie for Changeling Melissa Leo for Frozen River Meryl Streep for Doubt Kate Winslet for The Reader -- Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses, but i'm going with my gut on picking Angelina Jolie. with Clint Eastwood directing "Changeling" you can't really go wrong. Hilary Swank knows all about that with "Million Dollar Baby." Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role Josh Brolin for Milk Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder Philip Seymour Hoffman for Doubt Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight Michael Shannon for Revolutionary Road -- Heath Ledger is the shoe in for "The Dark Knight" but Robert Downey, Jr. was stellar in "Tropic Thunder." Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role Amy Adams for Doubt Penélope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona Viola Davis for Doubt Taraji P. Henson for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Marisa Tomei for The Wrestler Best Achievement in Directing Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire Stephen Daldry for The Reader David Fincher for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Ron Howard for Frost/Nixon Gus Van Sant for Milk -- it's really about time David Fincher gets his nomination. he should've gotten one for "Zodiac." but with films like "Fight Club," "Seven," "Panic Room," "The Game", "Alien 3", and "Zodiac" he has paid his dues. and Ron Howard is a douche!

Really hard to call, since i haven't seen all the movies. My take?
Benjamin Button wins best picture. Just gut on that one. Mickey Rourke for Best Actor. Hollywood loves comebacks...although Penn could win again. I think Kate Winslet wins best Actress. She's REALLY versatile and this is her year. Ledger will win the Oscar for supporting, but this is all about the posthumous honor. Had he not died he'd not even be nominated. I don't have a clue for Best Supporting Actress other than to say that I highly doubt Tormei wins another. I have a feeling that although Fincher deserves it, he'll get snubbed and Boyle or Van Sant win Best Director.
