That is so fn stupid. A packed house at Heinz watching the game would be awesome. Hell charge people 5 bucks and open the concession too. Let us have a place to hang out with 60.000 other family members.

Bottom line, that's the truth. Was told the same today.

It's not the ratings. 1 Nielsen household represents more households than Heinz field holds. The problem is that they would have to negotiate a share of all receipts with the NFL to get permission. There's really no reason the city and NFL couldn't come to terms, and I know this has come up in the past, so my assumption is that there are just too many factors, or liabilities involved, that make it not worth the hassle to the home city.

But on the surface, I'd think that Heinz would easily sell out @ $30 a ticket, plus get all concessions. Fans would come to tailgate with other Steeler fans and hear the roar of the crowd as the game unfolds.

There must be other factors.

I personally think it would be awesome to let us watch the Super Bowl at Heinz Field. It would be a good chance for those of us who can't afford the outrageous price of a Super Bowl ticket to catch the game with 60,000 other Steeler fanatics. It would never happen, I know, but it would still be awesome!

Yeah, I see your point. Everything boils down to $$$.

Reminds me of the church rule. Churches could not broadcast the game on anything larger than a 36 inch screen.

However, that has now changed, and they can put it on as big a TV as they want.

I live in Anderson, South Carolina. I swear if they opened up Heinz I would be there. I would leave early Sunday morning and drive up and get me a ticket and watch the game at Heinz. That would be amazing.
