I look at Madden this way:

The guy knows hockey, wrestling and soccer more than oneone else in the Burgh with a regular sports show. He knows little to nothing about baseball and he picks his points on the Steelers. I have never heard him mention basketball more than a quick sentence about the Panthers.

One thing I give him credit for, he gets ratings and makes a great living doing it the way he does. Why not put down 21 slices? He won't see the age 55 anyways...

ANd no, I don't listen to him. If I am in a car, I may the radio on to him, but more oftne than not, I will plug in my phone (mp3) or turn it to a sports channel.

Here is how I feel about him. I HATED him on 1250. Wanted to punch him in the face. His show on the X is GREAT. I listen to him every day on the way home. He tells it like it is, sometimes I don't agree, but he makes me laugh when stupid callers ask some stupid question. I wish the other sports figures would quit being so nice. I mean, some callers have no idea what they are talking about.

He recently received a rating of 10. something for ratings in the 3-6 time slot in ALL OF PITTSBURGH. The highest rating score ever. He hardly talks about wrestling, or soccer. His hockey knowledge is beyond anyone on the radio now. Honestly, if Mark Madden and Mike Lang would do the commentary for Pens games, it would be great. the old 2 niner, Bob Erey, and STiegy are terrible.

Give him a second chance like I did, He will grow on you. Is he a Fat, no it all? Yes, does he deserve a punch in the face a few times,? Yes. But what the hell, its great talk radio and he throws in some great music. I have never had a problem trying to call in. As long as you show signs of knowing what your talking about, he'll talk with you. IF you are an idiot who thought Leftwich should have been playing, or you think FLuery should be benched, or if you think Tomlin hasn't done anything but inherit Cower's team, he will let you know that you are a moron and hang up on you. And that is entertainment.

I would put money that all of you who posted negative things about him, have not heard his new show. Its fresh, its fun, and I laugh in the car sometimes.

I will step off my soap box.
