I agree with 86Ward. It wouldn't surprise me though if Ward became Art Monk and was the talk every year as the guy that probably deserves in but always gets passed up.

I think initially he'll be looked over because he wasn't as flashy as some others during his time (i.e. ocho stinko, TO), but eventually voters will remember that he was an all around WR and team player and that along with his Super Bowl MVP and Steelers records will get him in the Hall.

He should get in. He has 800 career catches, close to 10,000 yards, around 70 TD catches, also he is the all time leader in catches, yards, and TD's in the playoffs. 4 time pro bowler, 1 time Superbowl MVP. If that doesnt spell Canton, then I dont know what he has to do.

In my mind the guy gets just one more Super Bowl victory and plays 3 more good years he should be a first ballot selection.
chris carter.......did NOT even get in on the first try.

From another board I post on:

And Hines is a borderline HOF if he has 3-4 solid to above average years. If he has a big day on SB sunday that will only help but look at his stats:

22nd in receptions (if he gets 100 more - not unlikely at all, he moves to 10th)
34th in receiving yards (another 1,000 puts him 23rd)
28th in receiving touchdowns (another 10 puts him 18th)

Super Bowl XL MVP
4 probowls
3 all-pros

All-time Steelers leader in yards, receiving touchdowns, and catches, ahead of hall-of-famers john stallworth and lynn swann (also the steelers postseason leader in catches and yards, ahead of both as well)

he's only 32 so he could play for another 5 years. Say he gets 200 more catches (40 a year), that would put him over 1,000 catches, 6th on the list, ahead Art Monk. Say he gets 2,000 more yards (500 a year), that would put him 19th all-time. Another 20 touchdowns (4 a year) would put him 9th all-time, ahead of tons of hall-of-famers.

Very conceivable he makes it. Not a lock by any means, but it's certainly possible.

That's certainly true, but his numbers will be top 20 just about across the board. He's played on a run-first team his whole career and still produced at a possible hall of fame level.

If ESPN can spend 2 weeks asking the same question about a QB who only started and played for 5 full seasons of his 11 year career...than DAMN EFFING RIGHT! Hines is going to Canton!

Hines Ward is in. Tyler 289 said it best, he played on a run first team his entire career. You have to factor in his entire body of work. He re-defined how a receiver is supposed to block. Hines Ward will be a Hall of Famer someday.

100% for sure Hall of Famer, maybe not first ballot though. Doesn't have super numbers like some, he will go in as a great football player not so much a wide receiver.
