On 27 January 1969, Dan Rooney hired Charles Henry Noll to become the Head Coach of the previously woeful Pittsburgh Steelers:
I recall an early interview where Noll said (para-phrasing) Football is a very simple game..... it is running, blocking, and tackling..... ![]() Do these things better than your opponent, and you will win. until the League changed the rules, and turned the game into 'pass-and-tab', no franchise did these 3 things better. |
