40 years ago, the laughing stopped
On 27 January 1969, Dan Rooney hired Charles Henry Noll to become the Head Coach of the previously woeful Pittsburgh Steelers:
I recall an early interview where Noll said (para-phrasing) Football is a very simple game..... it is running, blocking, and tackling.....  Do these things better than your opponent, and you will win. until the League changed the rules, and turned the game into 'pass-and-tab', no franchise did these 3 things better. |
