Default patriots vs. jaguars

if im jack del rio i am telling my team that the patriots tanked the game against the dolphins cause they think facing the jagoffs is the easier route through the playoffs and that they dont respect the jaguars capabilities.

or is belichick the only coach who can play the "disrespect" card?

kudos to the jags for showing up to play against the decimated and undermanned titans. i thought for sure they would mail it in and just be happy with their #5 seed. a 12-4 record is pretty impressive for a #5 though. (did they face t. maddox 12 times?)

mmhmm, the Patriots really tanked it by losing by 2 with their back-ups in.

Hmmm I dont think that any Jax player with average intelligence will look at the box score for that game and think that the Pats had a 2point conversion attempt to tie with no time remaining...and deduce 'tank job'.

We did play alot of 2nd/3rd string - but BB does whats best for the Patriots - if Del Rio can make some bulletin boared material from that then more power to him

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

so pulling t. brady in the 2nd quarter is playing to win? along with half the other starters? maybe belicheck should rest his players next week for the inevitable super bowl appearance then. if you guys dont think this type of discussion goes on in the locker room then you are kidding yourselves. shit belichick used the fact that pittsburgh had sb travel arangements in 2001 as motivation when the underdog patriots had THE EXACT SAME travel arrangements in place. not to bust your bubble but this type of coaching is commonplace. patriots have thrived on bulletin board material for the past 4 years. thats a fact. if you dont believe it just look at freddie mitchels comments before last years sb

As a fan I would take Jax over Pittsburgh.

However, I am sure that BB would have done the exact same thing if the losing the game had meant we played the Steelers instead.

The fact is - we were already in the playoffs - I dont think BB wants Brady or any of his other starters injured just so we can influence which team we beat in the 1st round.

Its a short week til the playoffs for the Pats - and we just came of another after a monday night game.

come on, we all know the patriots wouldve killed the dolphins with all there starters in. i think its odd that when belichick uses these motivational tactics he is a genius and the greatest coach of all time, but if another coach were to try them its taken as some sort of admission of weakness and act of desperation.

I guess the Colts weren't playing to win, or Seattle, hmmm maybe they should rest their starters too. Yeah that would be a terrific idea!

I honestly cant say we would have killed the Doophins with all our starters.

They had a 5 game winning streak entering the game.

They always have a little something saved up for the Pats - I would hate to see one of them take the opportunity to lay a heavy hit on Brady.

I totally agree with the bulletin board approach as a useful motivational technique.

However, resting our starters this week is not really on a par with a no-name Eagles WR pretending he doesn't know the identity of our SuperbBowl starting DB division.

bottom line is if the patriots really wanted or needed to win today they would have. they didnt, therefore i will say they tanked it.
