Default What do you guys make of this?

Is this guy a kook or is this real? Now, bear in mind, NAFTA was created to form a North American trading bloc (not so different from Oceana in 1984) to compete with Europe and the Pacific Rim, so there is definitely a little fire behind all this smoke.

This guy made a video trying to prove that Barack Obama, is in fact, Osama bin Laden. He's crazy.

Is that supposed to scare me? Look at what the German dollar did after WWI!

July 1914---1.0
Jan 1919---2.6
July 1919---3.4
Jan 1920---12.6
Jan 1921---14.4
July 1921---14.3
Jan 1922---36.7
July 1922---100.6
Jan 1923---2,785.0
July 1923---194,000.0
Nov 1923---726,000,000,000.0

That's right, one mark in 1914 was equal to seven-hundred and twenty-six BILLION marks in 1923!
oops!!!

Unfortunately they recovered in time for Hitler.

Okay, I'll explain why it's crappola now that I am done with my stupid media comparison essay.

Anyway, so, I went to the guy's web site, and found it to be full of vitriolic, racist hatred, conspiracy theories, anti-Semitism, self importance, and general tin foil hat content. But the content of the video was disconcerting, and, not finding near enough info at his web site or blog, I did some more research.

You couldn't see the Amero coin very well in the video, so I did a search for that, and found lots and lots of images. I also found out that the Amero idea was first mentioned in an academic work from Fraser Institute in Vancouver entitled The Case for the Amero, in which the author goes over his theory that it might make economic sense for Canada, the US, and Mexico to use one kind of currency.

Some guy who bought a coin striking machine from the Denver Mint then went into the business of designing what such a coin might look like, and even sells them from his web sites, here , here, and here. You can buy one for around $60.

So, that was the coin on the video. There are also some images on 'Net floating around that show supposed paper Ameros, but, as far as I can tell - and based on the fact that the others were phonies - I would have to say that these are an art project that has taken on a life of its own.

According to the Snopes.com article about it, this Hal Turner who we see in the video claims that the site for these coins was actually built after he brought the information to light. The domain registry information says differently, though: the record for the initial domain name registration for the guy selling the coins he created and minted goes back to 2000, long before Turner's video. (You can find this information at Network Solutions' web site; just search for designscomputed.com.)

There's more at the Wikipedia Article about the North American Union currency (aka: the Amero). (Sounds like the name of a car to me...)

There are lots of things that we should be worried about in this world, but this isn't one of them.

Yeah, one of my friends checked into it and found out that this guy is SO nuts that even the neo-Nazi's have disowned him... and he himself is a white supremist!
