. Author of The Rats and The Spear among many others; Haunted and The Ghosts of Sleath I couldn't possibly mention. It's about a husband and wife who buy a cottage (strangely enough), and when they move in they find live to be really good, even the animals are nice....then things change, shall we say....... If you like a good scarey story without the gore, then I'd recommend it. A++ in fact! You could also try The Haunting of Toby Jugg by Dennis Wheatley....my Mum had that in her bookcase when I was a kid and the front cover spooked the life out of me - guess that's why I love horror stories now! Oh...and anything by Clive Barker.........

1. the bible (the ultimate cosmic comic book) 2. the agony and the exctasy 3. helter skelter 4. the ammityville horror ( i wont even count "kids books" such as any calvin and hobbes, peanuts, and farside or old yeller)

You're welcome - And I would most emphatically recommend The Magic Cottage. (Any of James Herberts books actually if you like scarey/non gore horror.......just perhaps give The Rats and it's sequels a miss - Although that was the reason I got my first Rat as a petClive Barker's not right, which is why I just love his writing - The Great and Secret Show still has me wondering wtf did I just read there? And definitely, most utterly, read Creed by JH. That's creepy, creepy.

And yeah, I'm thinking I'll pass on the RATS...You had a pet rat? Now that is interesting. What was his name? And to say Clive is "not right" is putting it mildly lol. "What does not kill you, will make you wish it had". Last edited by Steelcitygal87; 02-04-2009 at 06:38 AM. |

I am a HUGE Chuck Palahniuk fan...
Diary Choke Fight Club Monster (I could go on and on) Also, Silence of the Lambs (I like dark books (because my life isn't dark), comedies (to lighten the mood), fiction, psychology based books as well - twisted I guess you could say). And I love almost anything by David Sedaris. I'm in the middle of reading Wicked: The Real Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by: Gregory Maguire I love it - I need to complete it, (so I can read the other parts to this story - Son of a Witch, Lion Among Men, etc) I've been in the process of reading this for over a year - it's amazing but I never have time to SIT DOWN and read. I look forward to everyone's answers so I can find some great reading material.
