Talking Chad told to Zip it

Bengals | C. Johnson told to keep quiet
Mon, 2 Jan 2006 14:40:43 -0800
Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson said he was told by a "higher authority" not to talk to the media. "Thanks to a higher authority (Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis), I can not open my mouth. All week," Johnson said. Lewis' message to Johnson was "just play."

I like Chad - he seems like a nice guy if a little over-confident.

But like I said before - im glad he isnt on my team - that smack talk he gets into may be funny stuff - but it doesnt EVER help his own team.

It just gives the opposition another reason to stay focussed to try and grind the the Bengals into the ground.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

I hate Chad...everything that's wrong with the modern game can be quickly summed up with him. A talented attention *****, possibly overachieving with a superior QB and superior supporting cast.

Putting the muzzle on Chad is a good sign, not because it keeps Chad quiet (I actually enjoy his stuff - emptying the Santa bag was great) but because it throws the Bengals off their regular routine, which also was the case when Marvin Lewis went into media shutdown mode before the Steelers whacked Cincy in October.

Glad to see their coaching staff driving home to the Bengals that the playoffs are different -anything to increase jitters is fine with me.
