Not sure about the trade value and all of that since free agency somewhat confused me as far as how to keep a guy and what is needed for this to imply this and who is allowed to talk to teams via trade and who has permission to do this and so on.

I know Leftwhich is a unrestricted free agent, which means he's allowed to test the market and talk to other teams and ultimately sign a contract without any jurisdiction or word from the Steelers, unlike what restricted free agents must go through. Not sure what level of trade value we can get for Lefty.

(Correct me if I'm wrong.)

No trade value....in two weeks any team can sign him.

I'm not sure why so many here think he's a lock to get a big payday and a starting role elsewhere. What's he done since he's been here to raise his stock? Theres a reason there were no takers last year. Bottom line is the $. I don't doubt someone will offer more than the Steelers to at least compete for a starting job, but in the end I'll bet you dollars to donuts he's still carrying a clip board next fall.

I can see him getting an offer from a place like KC and being there to compete with Thigpen.

Same too in Minnesota. The guy is a good QB that was in some bad situations. He will not be a Steeler next season.

They might not dish out the $ for him to be a right away starter, but someone will give him the opportunity to compete for a starting job, which is the one thing he wants.. a chance.

I see KC, Minn, Seattle, or even the Jets (since Favre is now retired) to go after Lefty for a shot to be their Quarterback. He's young, and has a CANNON arm, which some teams are drooling over. Plus, he's healthy, which is KEY for him. Should be interesting.

Dallas will be signing a backup this offseason.

Jets need a QB pretty badly. They will probably go after him.

I believe Leftwich was considered one of the better backups in the league this year... and considering the lack of QB talent in the NFL, I think he'll have no problem getting a chance to compete for a starter's job with someone. He knows that, in the 'Burgh, he'll sit behind Ben (if he's healthy) forever...

Will Batch be healthy enough to regain his position next year?

Just a reminder.....in his last stint in Atlanta he couldn't beat out Joey Harrington for the job.

I just don't see where he did anything to raise to his stock since. If anything he cemented himself as a backup QB. He knew last year he didn't have an opportunity to start but he signed here.

Charlie Batch isn't the answer. I'd like to see the FO step up and offer Leftwich enough to stay. If some other team wants to throw big $ at him so be it.

Lefty even mentioned about staying in Pittsburgh when he was doing super bowl interviews.

I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to stay in Pittsburgh as the backup.
