Default bettis 70-30 on retiring this year

this is what he told peter king on inside the nfl. he said after last season he was probably 60-40 leaning towards retirement. now its about 70-30. not a resounding 99.9% sure like michael jordan (and he came back)

the speculation on the show, after what was an excellent interview, was that bettis is gonna check out all the t.v. jobs first. if there is nothing great he could return for yet another year.

this is exactly what led lynn swann into an early retirement. abc (i believe) made him an offer and a future that he couldnt refuse, even though he knew he still had some football left and a love for the game.

After last Sunday, I'd say Bettis is 97% leaning towards retirement.

hes not that convinced though. 70% leaves the door open wide enough for his wide frame to come marching through. (not that im holding my breath)

That's for sure. A ring is the last thing left on the checklist.

For selfish reasons I want him to stay. Whats best for him though is to retire, he has a young child at home now and he can still get around pretty well. How awful would it be if he came back and had a serious leg injury and 5yrs from now inside the nfl did a piece on him and he can't even play catch with his kid. I say go!!!! you have your health and thats the most important thing in the world!

no doubt, now that would be one helluva way to end your career.. A big reason he came was that he believed in this team and the chance to get a championship.. its not about just playing football anymore, its about wanting a ring !
