I don't know if I'll go that far. The ACC is getting better. Although the powers in their usual good years (Florida State and the like) will still need to improve.

and here is why i hate penn state....

Quote:
for Maryland, both schools compete aggressively for recruits in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area and southeastern Pennsylvania.[3] When they did play, the game held recruiting implications for the entire mid-Atlantic. A more recent example of the recruiting competition is Baltimore-area player Antonio Logan-El, who made a verbal commitment to Maryland, but ultimately signed with Penn State on live television in 2006. Penn State secured a large number of recruits from the Baltimore-Washington area with its 2006 class, including the 11th-overall 2009 NFL Draft pick, defensive end Aaron Maybin of Ellicott City, Maryland, who had considered attending Maryland.
every year MD loses players in thier backyard to penn state ...

Maybe if they double in size and absorb the SEC...I mean, they already have like 30 teams in there (I'm exaggerating, but not THAT much) and they are still largely a second-tier football conference.

Cracks me up when people constantly predict the demise of the Big Ten. These things are cyclical, and they are just going through a little downward trend.

That's one thing I find funny. The Big Ten isn't going to fall as long as the likes of Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan(Even if they're awful) are holding the conference together while some of the teams like Iowa, Michigan State, Illinois and the like keep getting better. I love how people try to predict that considering what conference other then the Big Ten has sent 2 of it's members to the BCS Recently(Not to mention one of them almost over a year ago went to the BCS Title game).

what's the problem?

why would these good players want to go to a crappy team like Maryland? They do what's best for themselves

kinda hard to buck the trend of sucking as long as the good prospects, particularly those in your neighborhood, get swayed away to the likes of PSU and WVU.... i guess MD's alumni needs to spend more on football recruits and less on the bball recruits.....

and for all the sucking MD has done over the years, they're still only, what ? 2 national titles behind PSU ?

Rivals currently has 2 Big Ten teams in the top 8 of recruiting for 2009 (OSU at 3 and Michigan at 8). As Michigan State and Penn State are also in the top 25. Illinois has pulled some top classes in the recent past. As long as the conference continues to recruit well, they'll stay in the top 2-3 in the country, and that's in general, not any one specific year...

I hate Penn State because they do not recruit the best from their home state.
