Penn State backup tackle charged with DUI
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
By Ron Musselman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penn State senior backup offensive tackle Ako Poti has been charged with driving under the influence.

He was pulled over July 17 by State College police and had a blood alcohol content between 0.10 and 0.16, which is more than the legal limit of 0.08, police said. Poti also was charged with disregarding traffic lanes.

He received a citation in the mail July 20 and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 2.

Poti, a transfer from San Francisco Community College, has appeared in just four career games for the Nittany Lions.

Difference between a program like "Thug U" and a PSU or OSU is at Miami they sweep the mess under the rug and at Penn State they boot the kid off the team.

Penn State lands top LB recruit
Thursday, July 30, 2009
By Ron Musselman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Linebacker Dakota Royer today became the 15th recruit to verbally commit to Penn State's class of 2010.

Royer, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder from Manheim Central, made the announcement during a noon news conference at his high school in Manheim, Pa. He is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com.

He chose the Nittany Lions over Pitt and Notre Dame. Royer earned first-team Class AAA all-state honors as a junior defensive end, registering 81 tackles and 11 sacks. As a wide receiver, he caught 56 passes for 1,099 yards and five touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Glenn Carson, an incoming linebacker recruit, has been charged with public drunkenness and underage drinking as a result of a July 25 incident in State College. He was rated the country's 14th-best inside linebacker by ESPN's Scouts Inc. in the class of 2009.

Penn State opens preseason practice Aug. 10.

Penn State's Clark named to O'Brien award watch list
Tuesday, August 04, 2009
By Ron Musselman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark has picked up another preseason honor.

The senior co-captain, a first-team All-Big Ten Conference first-team selection last season, is one of 33 quarterbacks named to the watch list for the Davey O'Brien award. He was a semifinalist last season.

Two previous Penn State quarterbacks have captured the O'Brien award -- Todd Blackledge (1982) and Kerry Collins (1994).

Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor from Jeannette, the Big Ten's preseason offensive player of the year, also was named to the list.

The winner of the award will be announced during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show Dec. 10 on ESPN.

Scirotto didn't have a history of pull crap like this. That's probably the main reason why he didn't get kicked off the team.

Every team has a few bad apples. Just some have more then others.
