"I think overall it was a pretty good workout," coach Joe Paterno said.

Hmmmm...I guess he did NOT learn "The Auburn Lesson".

Had, say, PSU, USC and Texas all gone undefeated this year, PSU would be playing in the Fiesta and watching the other two teams play in the Rose Bowl for the NCG because of this kind of thinking.

PSU would be doing that under the old format. Under modern BCS if they win the BIg Ten they'd be playing in the Rose Bowl. Just 1 week earlier. Happened in 2005 when they went to the Orange.

For some reason or another it sounded like you said Penn State wouldn't play at the Rose Bowl. They still could just in the Rose Bowl Game.

So SCM, big week for State this week in the Big House. What's your take?

Which "Champ" will show up at QB?

I call Clark "champ" because he's a dead ringer for that guy in Harlem Nights.

How does Penn State beat Michigan?
Penn State football Q&A with Ron Musselman

Q: Ron, what does Penn State have to do to beat Michigan?

Dan Walker, Virginia Beach, Va.

MUSSELMAN: Well, Dan, I think Penn State's defense, which has been rock-solid so far, has to contain Michigan quarterbacks Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson. If the Lions can keep them in the pocket, then they have a chance to win their first game at the Big House since 1996. Michigan has a really good running game, too, but Penn State's defense typically doesn't allow an opposing runner to pile up a bunch of yards. Coach Joe Paterno also must avoid the conservative play-calling that has hurt his team in the past in Ann Arbor, Mich.

He makes a good point about containing the QB to the pocket. I watched the Notre Dame game earlier in the year, and Forcier really broke their backs running (called, or improvised) when coverage downfield was good. Of course he threw for about 250 in that game.
