So, I just left work early to go have my Subaru Outback serviced at the dealership. Today is Tuesday, I set up an appointment on Wednesday of last week. I drive all the way down to the dealer and there is one guy in the service dept. and he tells me they closed up shop on Friday and the only reason he is in there is to get the remaining cars fixed and gone. In the span of when I set up the appointment and when they closed (2 days) the dealership went under. Kind of blew my mind! Would have thought they might have seen that coming, but the service tech said nobody had a clue until the morning they closed.

Well, that's lame. You'd think they'd at least have a we're-going-out-of-business kegger.

A couple of weeks ago, we had our comforter at the dry cleaners. My husband went to pick it up and the door was locked, no sign in the window. He went next door to the hair salon beside it and asked what was up and they said that they just up and went out of business the day before. We called and left several messages about our comforter and finally one of the employees called us back and said she would be there all day (UNPAID) to let everybody pick up their stuff. The owner didn't care if anyone got their stuff out.
Happening all over the place.

My stepdads print shop closed after being open forever. It was his first and only real job.
They were open Friday, and closed Monday. No warning. No severance. No last paychecks. They didn't even pay the people who worked there for the last two weeks they worked. They even canceled their insurance a month prior to closing, which my mom found out the hard way after she received a $2000 bill for tests and blood work that would have and should have been covered. 30 years of loyal employment, and they couldn't even give him a couple days notice. Get used to it...things will get much worse before they get better.

They are taking legal action collectively, but they will never be compensated. Too many other creditors in line in front of them....

There's a sportsmans warehouse down here closing shop. Opened up as part of a "new shopping discrict" next to the brand new Walmart Super Center. Northwest Arkansas was on a mad spree of over building for about 4 years and now, doors are closing all over the place. The Ma and Pa shops that actually survived the Walmart take overs are now fighting to stay open as everyone starts shopping for bargain prices. Even the new Target was rumored to be closing its doors and it only opened 2 weeks ago.
At least the sports store is 30% off everything, Going GUN shopping this payday.
