I would say if we don't get him in the second round then we won't have another shot at him.

As the article quoted

Quote:
If nothing else, Shipley, named the Rimington Trophy winner as Division I's top center last season, could make for an intriguing midround pick for the Steelers at the NFL draft April 25-26.
I am hoping that one of the top 2 centers is taking before he is even an option
Mack - round 1
Wood - round 2

If Shipley is taken in the 4th it means that the steelers have landed the OT and DE's on the first day of the draft. Only then would this be a good pick.

I think as far as centers go, the order will be

1. Mack
2. Unger
3. Wood
4. Caldwell
5. Shipley

I think he will be there in the 3rd or even later.

He might still. He honestly put up crazy workout numbers last year and went undrafted.

NFL | Legursky works out at Pro Day
Tue, 25 Mar 2008 00:33:35 -0700

J.J. Pesavento, of Next Level Scouting, reports Marshall OL Doug Legursky measured a height of 6-foot-1 and a weight of 321 pounds at his Pro Day March 24. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.02 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.75 and 4.82 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.71 seconds. He measured a 28-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot-5 broad jump and completed 37 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

But, he looked terrible when playing with the 3rd team in the preseason. I hope he pans out. He was even training as a long snapper to increase his value. Sounds like a good kid that works hard and will do anything to contribute.

was legursky ever on a 53 man roster? what do we do with retkofsky?

what im getting at is the steelers are 2-0 in the SB the last 2 times they threw an UDFA into the lineup as long snapper.

i mean i like greg warren and all, but getting rid of his vet minimum could save $200,000 and was he really missed after the giants game?

I think Legursky was on the practice squad once Simmons and Smith were on IR and Parquet moved to the active roster. I think Warren is better, but Legursky was working with a former Bears long snapper to improve his skills.

Imagine if we have a backup center who can actually long snap. It frees up a roster spot for somebody else, but I dont think you wanna just toss Legursky in right away without any game experience. I hope he gets some reps in camp and preseason.

Shipley would be a good pick in the third or fourth round . . . hopefully if he end up taking him it means we took someone like Beatty in the first round.
