Default Ravens request no prime-time game at Heinz Field

saw this on a ravens forum, thought it was interesting.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/f...,7828732.story

Contrary to rumors, the Ravens are not expected to kick off the 2009 regular season at the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers in the Thursday night season opener.

As part of their scheduling requests to the league, the Ravens asked not to play a prime-time game at Heinz Field this season, a team official told The Baltimore Sun.

The Ravens have played a nationally televised game at Pittsburgh for three of the past four seasons, including the past two years. The Ravens have never won a prime-time game at Pittsburgh, losing all four times.

It has become tradition that the defending Super Bowl champion opens the NFL season with a nationally televised game at home. There were rumors that the league would begin with Ravens-Steelers, a rematch of the AFC championship game.

The first games of the 2009 season -- the prime-time games for Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights -- are expected to be announced next week at the NFL owners meetings. The rest of the regular-season schedule is usually announced in April.

Seriously. Why the hell does it even matter what TIME the game is if you're a professional football team? They are completely psyched out already. I love it.

they dont even deserve the opportunity to even have a CHANCE at beating the steelers the 1st game of the season (which would be a huge boost and momentum builder for their season.

not saying it would happen, just that they dont deserve the opportunity.

while all three games against them were kick ass nailbiters, they are boring and got their faces smashed 3X.

bring on the titans for the revenge bowl and get myron cope and his charitable cause some well deserved national pub.

screw the baltipuss ravens.

Aww, the poor little Purple Birdies are afraid to lose to us on prime-time national TV.

That's ok. I'd rather play the Titans the first game and get our season started with some sweet revenge.

I'm really looking forward to playing the gutted version of the ratbirtds........Watching overpaid Ray Ray and his antics will be priceless as his skills diminish even further over the next few years.....if he lasts that long.

Bye bye d!ckhead
