Taken from the Stooges Wikipedia site:
"A film about the Three Stooges, simply titled The Three Stooges, is scheduled to be released in 2010. The Farrelly Brothers are still attached to the project,[23] even though their Warner Bros. deal to write and direct the film has expired. First Look Studios, working with C3 Entertainment, will distribute the motion picture.[24] The Farrellys have said that they were not going to do a biopic or remake, but instead new Three Stooges episodes set in the present day. The plot of the episodes are said to be an adventure that revolves around the Stooges characters.[25] The film taken to MGM studios will start production in the fall of 2009 to be released in 2010.[26] The studio has set Oscar-winner Sean Penn (Milk) to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain 40 pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard. The studio is zeroing in on Benicio del Toro to play Moe." So, Jim Carey, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn?? Interesting. I can't picture that..

I love the Stooges, but Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro? I don't know. I have faith Jim Carrey could pull it off, but there are so many better actors/comedians than Penn and Toro. I will say though, that the Farrelly Brothers produce some funny movies and they may just be able to make this cast work.

they should just leave this American classic alone...I just can't picture anyone else as the stooges. It didn't work out so well for Shemp did it?
That said, they should totally remake robocob!

lol, yeah...my point exactly. I'm only 22, but I remember watching the originals with my grandfather, though Abbott and Costello were my favorite.. I can honestly say I won't watch the remake.

![]() I am a Stooges fanatic!!! I've seen each episode hundreds of times and they still make me laugh harder than any modern day comedian. I am a collector of Stooges memoribilia and have a ton of CD's and several DVD sets. Shemp was my absolute fave! Did you know that he never used a script and ad-libbed his lines? He was absolutely hysterical and some of his facial expressions were so classic! I used to attend the annual Stooge Festival at the Syria Mosque until they tore the mosque down in 1991. They had the pie throwing and pie eating contests, as well as a Curly shuffle contest every year, which my son won when he was just 7 years old! Those were great times! ![]() I hope they do this remake - I'll be there as soon as the movie comes out!

I'm a huge Stooges fan myself, as well as the Marx Brothers. I just hope they do a good job on this move and don't just throw it together to make a buck.

Inspector Clouseau was DEFINITELY ruined by Martin.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this new Stooges movie could be pulled off. I like the idea of Penn and del Toro because they are both exceptional actors, and you just know they will sink themselves into their roles. Carrey doesn't have the chops that these guys do, but he's just inherently fuuny, and you know he'll "pulla DeNiro" and gain the weight for the role. Hope they don't eff this up...

with their choices in actors my guess is either this will be a real challenge for say Sean and Benico, for the comedy card, or they're going to plan to do a darker edge to the comedy... sometimes you just never know with remakes etc.

Funny but I could picture Jim Carey playing Moe more than Curly...
Guess I am thinking about his haircut from dumb & dumber and that he would kinda look like him... |
