Pittsburgh Sports Examiner

Dan Kreider made his mark in the NFL opening up holes for Jerome Bettis at Heinz Field. His tenacity as a player earned him the respect of Pittsburgh fans. Dan Kreider

In August, he'll make his first return a Heinz Field since January of 2007 when he was on the Steeler sidelines for a playoff loss to Jacksonville. Kreider is now a member of 'Pittsburgh West' as he signed a one year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, who were looking for help at the fullback slot.

Opening the pre-season against the Steelers is something Kreider is looking forward to.

"Pittsburgh has a special place in my heart, and it will be a neat experience for me," Kreider told the Examiner. "It will be fun to go back and play against the guys I used to go against in practice in a game."

Kreider will be reunited with Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhut and has an inside edge to win the starting fullback job over unproven Tim Castille and Justin Green who was out of the league in 2008.

In his nine years in the league, Kreider, 5-foot-11 and 255 pounds has rushed for 144 rushing yards on 32 carries and 60 receptions. But he is best remembered for his punishing hits on opposing players such as Ray Lewis.

It just won't seem right to see him playing at Pittsburgh in another uniform.

Can we trade back for him....give AZ Davis and get Kreider in return? I know he's older....but Davis isn't the blocker we need to make holes for our running game to be effective.

Why? Do you really want a FB that was CUT by the Chiefs? This is nothing more than picking up the Pittsburgh's leftovers.

He was a great FB for us. But why in the WORLD would we want to go BACK.
