Another Insider article
Simms drawing interest <Jan. 9> By leading the Buccaneers to a division title, QB Chris Simms has raised his stock enormously. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that at least four teams, including the Lions, Jets and Dolphins, are interested in Simms, who began the season as the backup to Brian Griese. Simms is a restricted free agent who would require draft pick compensation for any team signing him if the Bucs don't get a long-term deal Tampa should def. keep him IMO I mean their other option is Griese.... UGH Now the Jets or Dolphins would be goos fits but who knows if he is just a one year wonder or not?? |

I like Simms as a QB - he does the simple thing well and seems to stay level headed.
Turnovers killed the Bucs against Washington - and Simms was forced to air it out a little more than he wanted - his 1st INT was a tipped ball which is not really the fault of the QB. I think he still learning, but I got a good feeling from watching him play his first few games - he always seems focussed and never shellshocked. The Patriots laid some heavy hits on him this year - but he kept getting to his feet ready to play another down and get hit again if necessary. The Bucs would be crazy to get rid of him - there is a real shortage of quality QBs around the league as a whole. NM

They've been great for a while now, three Super Bowls' worth of great. But only this season have the New England Patriots become The Show, the must-see team of stars, pretty boys and reformed bad boys. Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless. The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed. |

Griese is better than Simms, and they also have Rattay. draft a late QB, if you have nothing else to do, and let Simms go.
