Former Steeler Banaszak Hospitalized

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―

A former Steeler has been hospitalized in serious condition.

Sources tell KDKA that 58-year-old John Banaszak being treated at Allegheny General Hospital.

We are told that he suffered multiple aneurysms and was flown to the hospital Wednesday evening where he remains in intensive care.

He's listed in serious but stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Banaszak earned three Super Bowl trophies with the Steelers. He was on the team from 1975 to 1981.

He is currently a football coach at Robert Morris University.

Banaszak is one of my all time favorite players. He was truly a blue collar player that worked harder at his position than anyone did.

Not only a good player, but a funny guy. He was roaster for the Lynn Swann Roast (Blount's annual thing), and was pretty funny. At one point, he looked a Swanni and said, "I was surprised to learn that you had ran for Governor ............ and apparently so were millions of other Pennsylvania voters."
