Default Troy Polamalu on New Madden Cover

Polamalu, Fitzgerald share Madden 2010 cover
By MJD

It is indeed Troy Polamalu and Larry Fitzgerald on the cover for the next edition of the Madden video game franchise, confirming speculation I passed on to you a couple of weeks ago.
It makes sense to put two guys on the cover, since the tagline for the game appears to be, "Fight for Every Yard." It wouldn't make sense to have one guy on an empty field fighting for a yard against no one in particular. Unless it was Rudi Johnson. Then it would kind of make sense.
Anyway, here's your cover, courtesy of FirstCuts, which has been all over this thing:

Pretty.
And from the press release that came with the cover, here's a little more information about some features in the game this year:
Utilizing the all-new Pro-Tak animation technology, Madden NFL 10 on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, ensures that the Fight for Every Yard doesn't end until the whistle blows. This new game changing animation technology delivers steerable tackles, three to nine man gang tackles, as well as the ability to fight for fumbles at the bottom of a pile. In addition, Pro-Tak allows quarterbacks to avoid the oncoming rush to extend a play, or step into the pocket to deliver an in-stride pass. With Pro-Tak, the authenticity of NFL game days is brought home like never before in Madden NFL 10.
I wonder how realistic that "fight for a fumble at the bottom of a pile" thing will be. Will I be able to pull hair? Apply the claw to someone's groin? Gouge an eye? I hope so.
The game comes out on August 14th, so you've got plenty of time to get your thumbs limbered up by then.
