Default Top 10 rookie performances on NFL net

I just saw this and I was wondering how many people might agree with it. Ben was on the list at no. 9. Dan Marino was at no.5. This is nothing against Marino, I always liked him, really. But wasn't Ben like 15-0 during the regular season? With one loss coming from the Maddox start? I'm not sure if I'm saying Ben should be ranked higher than Marino. I haven't really come to a real opinion on that yet, but how about higher than no. 9? Not trying to be real critical here, just wondering what most people here may think on it.

I recorded this just to see where (not if) Big Ben would be on the list. And I was very surprised to see him at #9. A local Pittsburgh writer was interviewed on camera and said in a sarcastic tone… “Who’s above him?”

There were two reasons that the haters gave for keeping Roethlisberger so low in the rookie list are:

1. He had a great team around him that made him look better than he really was.

2. He didn’t have great stats. (I guess starting 14-0 doesn’t count)

FACT: Ben Roethlisberger was in his first year in the NFL, he took over quarterback position in week two when the staring QB got injured, and then won every game the rest of the season. Most teams have never won 14 in a row, and he did it as QB during his first year, including the playoffs.

Marino had great numbers: 7-2, with 2210 yards, 20 TD’s, 6 picks, but a 58 completion percentage.

Matt Ryan’s “BIG” numbers were: 11-5, with 3440 yards, 16 TD’s, 11 picks, with a super-hero 61 completion percentage.

OH WAIT… here are Ben’s horrible stats: 13-0, with 2621 yards, 17 TD’s, 11 picks, and 66 completion percentage.

---Unless Matt Ryan goes undefeated AND wins Super Bowl 44, there is no serious argument for anyone higher than Ben on this list.

Yeah, a "great team" that the haters conveniently forget went 6-10 the season before his arrival, whereas the Dolphins were SB runners-up the season before Marino got there.

NFL network's "list"
10. Adrian Peterson 2007
9. Big Ben (even though his season is #1)
8. Curt Warner Seatlle RB 1983
7. Earl Campbell 1978
6. QB Sammy Baugh 1937 QB Bob Waterfield 1945
5. Dan Marino 1983= name recognition
4. Gale Sayers 1965
3. Lawrence Taylor 1981 (more name recognition)
2. Eric Dickerson 1983
1. Randy Moss 1998 (name recognition + the fact he is now a cheatriot)

Awful Awful list indeed. Wonder if they they randimly picked some big manes out of a hat then decided to put big ben in just to "legitimize" the list
